If you drive an electric vehicle (EV) or are thinking of getting one, installing an EV charger at home is usually essential.

PLUG IN AND GO
Enjoy the benefits of home EV charger stations
You can enjoy the benefits of EV charging straight away, running the charger directly from your home electricity supply. Electric vehicles give you the option to plug in and only start charging when electricity is at its cheapest – mostly overnight – so you can make the most of cheaper tariffs.
If you’re driving an EV, you’re already saving on fuel costs and reducing your carbon footprint. Our experts can advise you on how to boost those benefits even further by combining home EV charging with our cost-efficient solar panel and home battery systems.
PLUG IN AND GO
The ultimate EV setup! Home EV charging + solar + battery
For the biggest benefits, combine your home EV charger with solar panels and battery storage. You’ll get all the benefits of home EV charging powered by solar energy, plus the ability to store up energy while the sun shines, and to take control of your energy bills. You can even sell any excess energy on to electricity companies.
The team at EE Renewables can help you put together the best EV charging setup for your home, whether or not you want to combine it with solar panels and battery storage. Talk to us for straightforward, friendly advice.

GET MORE POWER FOR LESS
Partner EV charging with battery storage
A home battery storage system, with or without solar panels, is the perfect partner for a home EV charging station.
Even without solar, a battery can store excess energy when tariffs are cheaper, keeping that power until you need it. Then, when you’re ready, you can draw from the battery instead of the grid to power your home for less.

CLEANER, GREENER ENERGY
Combine EV charging with solar panels
If you’re driving an electric car, you’re already on the road to lower fuel bills and greener motoring. For many EV drivers, it’s the next logical step to use solar energy to charge your car.
All of our home EV chargers can be paired with solar panels to provide cleaner, greener energy from the sun. Many customers find they can charge their electric car incredibly cheaply this way – often powering all their motoring miles just from solar energy.
FAQs
Can I charge my electric car using just solar power? →
In short – yes, it’s totally possible! Your mileage may vary (literally!) depending on how much you use your car, the coverage of your solar panels and the changing of the seasons. Our expert advisors can help you get the right combination of equipment to ensure you can charge your EV entirely, or at least mostly, by solar.
What kind of charger do I need for my car? →
EV wall chargers are very versatile and, while they are not universal, you don’t need to be restricted to one kind of charger. For example, you don’t necessarily need a Tesla branded charger for your Tesla. However, connectors can vary, and different chargers have varying charging speeds. To make sure you install a charger that is the right fit and the best performing for your car, talk to a specialist at EE Renewables. As an independent home energy specialist, we aren’t tied to any manufacturer, and can help you choose from a vast variety of leading EV charger brands including Zappi, SolarEdge, Fox ESS, Hanchu, and GivEnergy.
Do I need to have battery storage with my EV charger? →
No – it’s not necessary at all. You can just have an EV charger powered from your mains supply.
However, installing a battery alongside your EV charger and/or solar panel system will help drive down your bills and give you more flexibility by enabling you to store energy when tariffs are cheaper, and use it to charge your car or however you wish.
Home energy systems are all designed to work together. For example, you will find that powering the EV charger from solar will give you more savings and reduce your carbon footprint further. Adding battery storage will give you even more savings and flexibility. And, for the ultimate in home energy efficiency, talk to us about our air source heat pumps too!
Can everyone have a home EV charger? →
There are a few requirements – usually, you’ll need a driveway, garage or off-street parking, and the charger will need to be able to access your home wi-fi connection. If you don’t own your home, then you will need permission from the landlord.
Electric vehicle chargers should always be installed by a qualified electrician. The specialists at EE Renewables can advise you on the best location for your charger, and we will always make sure the installation is neat and tidy – keeping cables out of sight and positioning the charger in the most convenient spot for your needs.
If you’re unsure about whether an EV charging point is suitable for your home, what type you need, or the best place for it, just get in touch.
