If you drive an electric vehicle or are thinking about getting one, installing an EV charger at home is usually essential.
We are specialists in EV equipment and supply quality home EV chargers from leading brands including Zappi, Tesla, Hanchu, GivEnergy and Fox ESS.
EV wall chargers are very versatile and, while they are not universal, you don’t need to be restricted to one kind of charger. For example you don’t necessarily need a Tesla branded charger for your Tesla. But when choosing the right charger, you may want to consider your car’s charging capabilities, how quickly you want to charge it and how you want to control it.
Our qualified electricians can guide you on the right fit and best performing charger for your car – here are some of our recommendations.
The Zappi home EV charger has three charging modes which make it great for all homeowners – especially if you have solar panels or are thinking about installing them.
It can adjust its charging current automatically by detecting how much power is generated from your solar panels and how much energy you use. In Eco charging mode, your charge power will adjust and the charge will continue until your vehicle is fully charged. In Eco+ mode, charging will pause if there is too much imported power, and continue when there is surplus free power available.
If you need to quickly charge your car, you can still use the Fast-charging mode, which is the same as other standard chargers – and will charge at maximum power in the quickest time, just slightly less eco efficient. It can be mounted indoors or outdoors.
The Hanchu EV-AC-07K/11K/22K supports a variety of charging methods, including App control, RFID, plug and play – and like the Zappi, it has a dynamic load balancing control function, which can limit the load.
What’s unique about this charger is that you can remotely start and schedule the charging time via an app or your web browser. You can also monitor the system’s operational status, checking your vehicle’s charging status from your phone.
The charger is available with a cable or socket and it can be mounted to your wall or on a post and an optional 4.3-inch LCD display is available, which is more user friendly.
The Fox ESS charger is simple, compact, intelligent and easy to use. Similar to Hanchu, it can be operated by an App, which allows you to configure your charging set up remotely, via Bluetooth, WiFi, 4G or Ethernet.
It’s able to link up with your solar panels without a battery, so you can charge directly from your own power.
Our experts can guide you on how to save fuel costs and reduce your carbon footprint even further by combining an EV charger with solar panels and a home battery system.
A solar battery will store any excess solar power you don’t use in your home during the day, for you to charge your car with overnight. This cuts your energy bills down to almost zero and gives you the opportunity to sell any excess back to the grid.
